Acceptable Use Policy

DEBATE-Kansas City's website is provided as a service to our community of educators, students, volunteers, collaborators, and advocates. To ensure safe and efficient access to these resources, users of this site have certain resposibilities.

Acceptable Use

All use of this website and its resources shall be in support of DEBATE-Kansas City's mission: Use debate to improve academic performance and move toward positive social change. DKC’s website provides nonprofit business resources for participating schools to advance their debate programs through service access, data management, research, education, communication, economic development, or public service.

Unacceptable Use

Violating federal, state or local law with DKC resources is unacceptable.

Using DKC resources to harm or harass others is unacceptable.

Using DKC resources in a manner that intentionally or negligently disrupts normal website use and service is unacceptable.

Using DKC resources for commercial activities that are not in support of nonprofit services, education, research, public service, economic development or government purposes is unacceptable. Distributing unsolicited advertising is also unacceptable.

Policy Enforcement

Reported or perceived violations of the Acceptable Use Policy will be reviewed by DKC’s Executive Director. Violations that are not promptly remedied by the community member or individual participant may result in punitive action.

Privacy Policy

Safeguarding the privacy of our website visitors and community members is one of DKC’s highest priorities. To that end, we make this pledge.

All personal data collected and managed through the Volunteer Bank and Urban Debate Network applications is protected by several layers of security. Individuals are provided with password-protected tools to control their own personal data.

It is DKC’s policy to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of 2000. It should be understood that DKC’s website exists to further educational opportunities through co-curricular debate; it is not a vehicle for marketing to children. Even so, children under the age of 13 are not eligible to enter personal data anywhere on this site without prior written consent from a parent or guardian.

DKC will not provide or sell information collected through this website to outside agencies (third parties). Any internal nonprofit business use of the data will be in support of DKC programs and activities.

DKC may share aggregate data to promote the benefits of debate as a co-curricular activity. Aggregate data is not linked to personal information that can identify any individual person. Any use of aggregate data will be to advance opportunities or advocate for DKC debate programs, schools, teachers, and students.
